King Philippe and Queen Mathilde paid a state visit to Lithuania at the end of October. The three-day Royal Mission took place in the context of 100 years of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Belgium and against the backdrop of Russian aggression.
Filip Goddevriendt, partner at Agio Legal, was invited to participate in the activities within the framework of this Royal Mission. On the economic front, the focus was on the meeting between high-tech companies from Lithuania and Belgium active in innovation, energy and life sciences. Belgium is a reliable partner for Lithuania regarding the dual green and digital transition to a sustainable economy. For Belgian investors, Lithuania offers great potential and opportunities.
Activities
A traditional state dinner was offered by the President of Lithuania in honour of the King and Queen, at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania on 24 October 2022, with exchange of traditional speeches and toasts. A concert offered by the King and Queen took place on 25 October. This was in honour of the President of Lithuania and the First Lady, with musicians from La Monnaie and the National Orchestra of Belgium, followed by a reception. A unique concert with both Belgian and Lithuanian accents. High-level business meeting at Vilnius City Hall on 25 October 2022, between high-tech companies from Lithuania and Belgium active in innovation, energy and life sciences. Speeches by President Nausėda, Lithuanian Minister of Economy and Innovation, Ms Aušrine Armonaitė, Minister of Environment, Mr Simonas Gentvilas and Deputy Minister of Energy, Ms Daiva Garbaliauskaitė, Walloon, Flemish and Brussels Prime Ministers.
