Founding Partner
Philippe Van den Broecke is the founder of Agio Legal and a well-established figure in corporate and commercial law, with a strong reputation in restructurings and mergers & acquisitions. Legal 500 recognizes him as one of Belgium’s leading M&A lawyers. He has advised on numerous transactions, both for mid-sized companies and large international groups, and is known for his pragmatic and results-oriented approach.
In addition to his M&A practice, Philippe has extensive experience in restructuring distressed companies. Through the thoughtful application of judicial reorganization proceedings, combined with his entrepreneurial mindset, he has successfully safeguarded the continuity of several businesses. He played a key role in the restructuring of, among others, Veritas, Lamaire, Neckermann, Promethera, and Switch.
Philippe studied law at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and has since built a distinguished career across leading law firms and organizations. He served as a partner at various law firms and a Big Four consultancy, while also teaching Legal French and Civil Law to professionals in both private institutes and the City of Brussels.
Today, Philippe combines his longstanding experience and in-depth legal expertise with strong commercial acumen. He has published on the Belgian Continuity of Enterprises Act and Share Purchase Agreements and is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences in Belgium and abroad, most recently in Rotterdam on raising capital for start-ups.
He works in Dutch, English, and French, and is recognized for his combination of deep knowledge, strategic insight, and a no-nonsense approach.
